Sarah Schlicht, Board President
Sarah’s talents include lifting others up through mentoring and caring capable leadership. Bringing strategic problem-solving skills, follow-through, and resourcefulness to develop and maximize individual and collective talent. Sarah Schlicht has an MBA in Project Management and is a 15-year Air Force Veteran. She began working in healthcare, and later healthcare IT. Sarah currently works for the American Legion Dept. of MN helping veterans with their benefits. After high school, Sarah joined the Air Force as a medical tech and enjoyed caring for elderly patients in the hospital quickly realizing that aiding others was her life purpose. Wanting to serve others in her community, Sarah joined Basic Needs Inc. in 2018.
Sarah is an aspiring minimalist, loves live music, and adores the family’s two cats. She is married, lives in Cottage Grove, and has two young adult sons.
Vicky Sarner, Board Secretary
Vicky Sarner retired in 2018 from the State of Minnesota IT Services agency. She worked as an IT Project Manager supporting the Department of Transportation for 27 years. Prior to working for the State of Minnesota Vicky worked for the YMCA directing aquatic, fitness, and day camp programs. Vicky has served on several non-profit boards in the past related to bicycling in Minnesota, recycling program in St Paul, and quilting.
Vicky is looking forward to providing leadership and direction to Basic Needs as it grows to serve the housing, food and basic needs of the community.
Vicky has a wide range of activities she enjoys from biking, pickleball, kayaking, quilting, photography and traveling.
Mari Pittman,Board of Director
Mari Pittman is an Accounting / Finance professional and is currently employed as a Consultant in this field. She has 25 years in the Retail industry holding positions of Buyer, Financial Planning Manager, DC Controller and Advertising Controller. She also has 10 years in the Manufacturing industry holding Division Controller and Finance Controller roles. She graduated from Metropolitan State University with a Bachelor of Science, Accounting.
Mari likes to spend time enjoying Mother Nature by Cycling, Hiking, and Gardening. Mari also enjoys time with her family and is a Blood Platelet Donor.
Dominic Busta, Board of Director
Dominic Busta is a Lean Value Stream Manager at the 3M Cottage Grove facility. He has been with 3M for over 20 years, with over 15 years of experience at a leadership level. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. Dominic resides in Hudson, WI with his wife and 3 children.
Dominic enjoys golfing and attending his kids many sporting events. He has also been a baseball coach over the last 10 years and dedicated many hours to the non-profit baseball association.
John Notaro, Board of Director
John Notaro is a proud teamster driver with 35 years of service with local 120. He spent his last 26 years with USF Holland receiving 26 years of safe driving awards when he retired in 2016. After retirement, John spent 3 years volunteering for the American Red Cross bringing much-needed blood to hospitals in the 5 state region. John now works at Hertz part-time. John dedicated 15 years coaching girls slow/fastpitch softball and hockey in school district 622.
He has been married to his wife Kathy for 32 years and they have 3 daughters. In his spare time, John enjoys playing pickleball, hockey, softball, golf, and riding his bicycle.
Vickie Snyder, Executive Director
Vickie is a healthcare technology leader with over 31 years of Healthcare Technology Management experience. She has supervised management staff, administrative staff, and union/non-union staff with responsibilities that included budgeting, human resources, staff training, regulatory compliance, database management, life cycle management, project management, construction, service contract management, vendor negotiations, and been an independent consultant. Vickie was the Board President for Basic Needs Inc, of South Washington County from 2016 until June of 2021 when she became the Executive Director. In that role Vickie is responsible for the operations of the organization including the management of Basic Needs Thrift Shop in Cottage Grove, MN.
