Basic Needs Food Market

It all began with an idea. To create a pleasant shopping experience where those who need access to healthy, fresh food can shop with dignity, with no barriers, and at no cost. A place where local grocery and store partners could donate and rescue food from waste.

Our Market Provides Piece of Mind

Basic Needs combats food insecurity with a walk-in, welcoming, dignity-based, choice-focused food market, including well-stocked grocery staples, a consistent supply of fresh fruits and vegetables, and an anonymity and convenience-based shopping experience designed for clients hesitant or unable to engage with the hunger relief sector.

What you need, when you need it.

Perhaps you’re in an emergency, having a tough month, or there isn’t enough money to pay the bills and eat well; Basic Needs is here to help. Stop into the Basic Needs Food Market at 8475 East Point Douglas Road, Suite106, Cottage Grove, Minnesota, and let us help.

Shoppers may check out with up to 15 pounds of food daily in a pleasant, grocery store environment. No check-in or appointment is necessary.

Stop in during open hours:
Monday through Friday: 11 am-6 pm
Saturdays: 10 am-2 pm

Closed: New Year’s Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and Christmas Eve.

Donors and sponsors make the Food Market possible! Thank you for helping us provide fresh and healthy produce to people when they need it.

Interested in donating or being a sponsor? Please get in touch with us at execdir@basicneedsmn.org or learn how to donate here.

Only $25 per week brings 2000 pounds of food to the market, and $250 or more supports rent and utility costs with a thank you on our Donor Wall at the Food Market.
